When I produce and work with artists I (despite what people think) very seldom experiment or do any real discoveries. Combinations of sounds might be new or treatments on new instruments might be “firsts” but the idea has generally been explored earlier some place. And very often Molesome is that place. Belafonte is a track where I was exploring distorted drum sounds and the technological boundaries of the Whammy pedal. The whammy pedal changes the pitch of an instrument usually guitar. On Belafonte I'm running the drums through this pedal which confuses the pedal into a sort of panic. And in that panic the pedal just starts making stuff up. Which is very interesting.

Then you add some samples from a Belafonte no name easy listening tribute LP and you end up with this wonderful musical gem. It's a sort of jittery version of smoke on the water mixed with sound of music.
